From the airport

The most popular transport option to and from the airport is using Dubai Taxis. It is fast and flexible. A cab from the airport to JBR beach costs around AED 100 ($27 / €20) and takes about 30 mins door to door.

Dubai International Airport website provides a general transport page but it it not great on detail. http://www.dubaiairport.com/en/passengers/airportguide/Pages/Transportation.aspx

Public transport, including buses, taxis and metro in Dubai is organised by the RTA (Roads and Transport Authority). RTA provide a ‘tool’ for planning trips on public transport. It is a little clunky but it is quite informative. It is called Wojhati: http://wojhati.rta.ae

Taxis

Taxis are operated by the Dubai Taxi Corporation. There are large size taxis, and by pre-arrangement taxis can include child seats. http://dubai-taxi.com . Examples of fares from DXB to various areas of Dubai:

  • DXB to/from Jebel Ali Freezone (+/-60kms) – AED115 (~$31 / ~€23)
  • DXB to/from Dubai Marina (+/- 40kms) – AED80 (~$22 / ~€16)
  • DXB to/from Green Community(+/- 50kms) – AED98 (~$27 / ~€20)
  • DXB to/from Ibn Battuta Mall (+/- 44kms) – AED90 (~$25 / ~€18)
  • DXB to/from Dubai Mall (+/- 19kms) – AED52 (~$14 / ~€10)
  • DXB to/from Mall of the Emirates (+/- 34kms) – AED74 (~$20 / ~€15)

Splitting a taxi with 4 people makes travel affordable and pleasant.

Metro

A typical ticket/cash fare from DXB to Dubai Marina station is AED6.50 ($1.80 / €1.30). Generally speaking however there is a limit of two items of luggage for passengers. (81cm x 58cm x 30cm and 55cm x 38cm x 20cm) This can be a little limiting. Another downside is that the Metro can be a little time consuming. A metro ride from Dubai Airport to Dubai Marina is just over an hour but if you want to go cheap and your hotel is near a Metro station it is convenient.More info at: http://metro.rtaprojects.me/index.php

Buses
